DAQTron 3601 Additive Impairment Module

Example frontpage image

The DAQTron 3601 Additive Impairment Board is a Compact PCI (cPCI) module with integrated Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and burst / impulse noise for impairment testing applications. With selectable noise bandwidths and center frequency placement, and programmable impulse noise waveforms, the 3601 takes the place of several instruments in a one-slot cPCI form factor.

The 3601 is perfect for real world simulation of impairments in many applications; especially those involving some form of digital communication format. Signals from 250 kHz to 2.2 GHz can be injected into the 3601 and either pass straight through, or add programmatically controlled AWGN or impulse noise to the signal. There is no need for external switches, splitters, filters, or upconverters.

A driver and documentation package is provided with the 3601 such that the user can provide a wide range of attenuations to the impairments or input signal, and accurately filter and place the impairment in the desired portion of the frequency spectrum.
